Program Highlights: Students will observe in dental settings, assist with the ambulance association in Prato where they will provide assistance with patient care/transport, and develop, deisgn, and deliver public health presentations allowings students to learn about and value various healthcare systems and "real life" professional practice. Excursions incorporate the history and culture of Italy. 

Courses Offered:

DHYG 4462: Under the guidance of the course coordinator, the dental hygiene intern will experience real life learning in Prato serving the Italian population. The intern will become a fully integrated member of the Pubblica Assistenza organization, be exposed to practice of dental hygiene/dentistry, dental hygiene education and deliver public health education. It is the intent of this course to have students understand the healthcare system in Italy.

DHYG 4468: This course provides the student with an opportunity to design a research protocol for a selected area of dental hygiene research or to undertake an in-depth exploration of a selected area of dental hygiene practice.
